A critical component of this Curriculum is the Professional Development Program that must accompany it if the resource is to be used in schools.

A key theme of the extensive consultation completed with community organisations and individuals, was that any curriculum must be accompanied by professional development for teachers, so they may use it in an effective and meaningful manner.  Providing appropriate context and adequate time to reflect is as, if not more important than covering the content.

A Professional Development Program was development with a number of core units.  This was taken to a Community Forum where it was determined that certain key units must be covered before the Curriculum may be used in schools.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  If you have not participated in this Professional Development, you should not be accessing this resource.

Marrung Leads / Project Champions

The Marrung Aboriginal Education Plan (2026-2026) (Marrung) sets out a shared vision for Victoria: a state where the rich and thriving culture, knowledge and experience of First Nations peoples are celebrated by all Victorians; where our universal service systems are inclusive, responsive, and respectful of Koorie people at every stage of their learning and development journey; and where every Koorie person achieves their potential, succeeds in life, and feels strong in their cultural identity.

To support the consistent implementation of Marrung, each school across Victoria has designated a Marrung Lead to champion initiatives that work to improve outcomes for First Nations students.

Marrung Leads can become KDFPC Project Champions to lead the implementation of the Professional Development Program and Curriculum within their school.

If you are unsure who your school’s Marrung Lead is, please ask your Principal.
